  • Beautiful morning, but.....

    Morning all

Beautiful morning but please remember your hats and sun cream..

I am sure lots of very white arms and legs will be exposed today not to mention thinning heads like mine

Having just had a biopsy on what I hope is only a bit of sun damage, can fully endorse that! Now using a spray product (buy online) called P 20 which you only apply once a day....SPF 50. Fair daughter used it in Tuscany to great effect. I am one of those folk who put a hat on, then ten minutes later it has disappeared to I Know Not Where!

That P20 stuff scares me... what kind of witchcraft is it that only needs applying once a day?! I'm the sort who if they can't see a two inch thick layer of mucusy suncream resting on their incredibly toned and muscular torso they don't feel protected.

Anyway I'm in work all day today so thanks for the thinly veiled boast about other not having to endure the torture of imagining the sun moving across the deep blue sky from behind blinds equivalent to blackout curtains...!

It does seem to work and OH tends to use it when out cycling for the day but I'm with you on it being witchcraft . When I use sun cream I prefer the mineral barriers and reapply regularly but find long loose clothing even better as you don't have to reapply, just check it does provide the shade as many fabrics don't make much difference.

But by the way if you do want to use it it's easily available in normal shops not just online.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Mr Gardener, you crack me up. Love reading your posts

As I'm in Scotland, typically we have natural sun block today.

I use P20 too as it is so convenient - once it's on, that's it for the day. Brilliant for the beach, and I haven't been sunburnt at all in last four or five sunshine holidays that I've used it. It's expensive in most High St stores/supermarkets but cheaper in Superdrug or through Amazon.

I have suspicions too and have wondered on occasion what the heck is in it though.

Like too many of us, though, I rarely think to put suncream on in this country, even if I'm out gardening or running in vest & shorts.

So a timely reminder, Greenleaves, thank you.

Don't sit on white plastic chairs till you have cured though, it stains them orange lol.

Two years in Singapore, Hong Kong and Oman, six months in Bahrain and 'some time in Oz' and never used anything.

                Cheers, Tony.

My husband uses P20 too, another cyclist. Only trouble is when first applied it smells like Chicken Korma. Goes off after a while but not very alluring!

Forgot about that, it turned a very pretty pale pink nail varnish on my toes the colour of a fungal nail infection

It does smell a bit funny (although not as bad as the fake tan biscuit smell) but not noticed the curry smell, would prefer that to the whiff I get!

I wonder what that P20 is actually made off? It works though. In the UK I rarely use sunscreen unless its properly hot, abroad however I slap on factor 30 for babies and martians.

I keep a bottle of F30 and a hat in my shed. No excuses for getting sunburnt here.

Have to say P20 is my saviour as it doesn't react badly with my skin like some of the other creams/sprays do - have ruined a few tops with the yellow staining in the past, but the new formula doesn't seem to be as bad for that!

Standard hat and shades for me as i'm a pale skinned Scot lol - i can be outside for 15 mins for a fire drill at work and get a bit red on a sunny day!

Never found I am sensative but use the Boots stuff called Simply Sensative, it is only SPF 15 but I am not out in the sune for long periods.

Suppose I have it as it has a reasonable SPF and Boots occasionally have it at 2 for 1 so I would grab 2 and keep one in the car, stockpile the rest at home. Find that I head out, and then realise it is sunny, so keeping one in the car is the most useful - I am after all not exactly baking in the sun while on a PC entering this.

Makes mental note to stash some spf 20 in the car.
