I've not seen an episode yet, so I can't really comment on it. I did read this about it though. It wasn't exactly gushing.

These programs rely on artificial cliff hangers, you have so many minutes to complete this task etc, Time team is the worst offender, " We have one day left to find the roman kazi, it seems impossible" But they always do. Scrap heap challenge was the same, one team seems like they wont get their project finished, but they always do. What kind of idiots do they take us for.photo album of my garden in my profile http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...my+garden.html

Overall I quite liked the series, but I could have done with a bit less flowers and a bit more on the actual growing.
If they could have concentrated on one or two crops per episode and followed each plot through the various methods they used to sow, propogate, protect and nurture their own chosen varieties through to the show bench then I would have been much happier.
Having said that, as the number of contestants dropped then we did get quite a bit more of this.
At the end of the day, it was a gardening program, albeit a very artificial, manufactured one, so I suppose we should be thankful for that at least.
Perhaps the format will evolve over time - it appears to have been quite popular as they are already in the process of making a second series - which I have no doubt that I will watch as well.

I was very disappointed with the lack of proper 'growing' of veg on the first show . After I got over that I quite enjoyed it in a light sort of way. At least I know what a fruit butter is now, for what it's worth! Also will make more effort to pick flowers regularly from the garden. Glad the 2 guys won.Gardening forever, housework whenever!
