Didn't your granny tell you about them Dotty? They had a little wren on the back. And there were thruppeny bits with lots of sides and a thrift plant on the back and silver sixpences and half crowns and ......................lots more lovely coins to jingle in your pocket.
Ooh I remember Press Button A - was it 4d to make a phone call?
The closest we came to mobile phones was joining 2 cocoa tins together on a long piece of string and talking into them. Looked pretty stoopid in the office though
I've turned into my MiL
It used to make conversations difficult when she referred to people by either their maiden name or where they used to live, well I've started doing the same thing
You need 10p to pee these days - that's the effect of inflation (or is it wind)
It's free here...most blokes still take a leak by the side of the road!
Talking of phones....typing in the first three letters of your village/ town name for the area code......and dialling 100 to speak to the operator ...having to book a time to be connected to make a long distance call.....peak phoning times ( when did they stop?)....dialling a number on that turning disc with holes in it, my mother's friend used to use a pencil to do it not sure if she had fat fingers or it was a hygiene thing!.....having to sit in the cold hallway at home to use the phone cos that's where the phone was installed....oh and I nearly forgot.....the big red heavy doored phone boxes which always had phone directories inside.
