Anyone else here remember being an Ink Monitor?
Responsible for filling up the little white china inkwells on the right top corner of each pupil's wooden desk in the classroom. The ink was in a big brown earthenware jar, with a little spout. Almost impossible to pour it straight without getting it on your hands, school uniform, socks, face, hair...............my mother must have been so upset the day I was promoted to ink monitor

Talking of phones....typing in the first three letters of your village/ town name for the area code......and dialling 100 to speak to the operator ...having to book a time to be connected to make a long distance call.....peak phoning times ( when did they stop?)....dialling a number on that turning disc with holes in it, my mother's friend used to use a pencil to do it not sure if she had fat fingers or it was a hygiene thing!.....having to sit in the cold hallway at home to use the phone cos that's where the phone was installed....oh and I nearly forgot.....the big red heavy doored phone boxes which always had phone directories inside.

Remember being shipped off to other people’s homes if their kids had had chicken pox, measles, mumps etc. That way we all had it together.
Every Sunday night we had our hair washed with my nans witches brew of boiled nettles and vinegar to stop us getting nits. It worked, but maybe that was because we didn’t smell too good so nobody came close!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
