session expired HACKED

I 've had my email hacked this week
Had a page pop up on my android which said
Session expired please sign in whilst signed into my emails
The page looked genuine and was unable
To navigate away from it
And it didn't show up on the anti virus .

I only found out when a customers phoned me up
And told me my account has been hacked.

I 've also had the same message from flee bay
this morning its I've never had a session expired
Message please sign in again before ?

How do you know if its genuine ?

Bad luck. I wouldn't fill in a pop-up. So many scammers out there and the pop-up is their favourite weapon!
If you use the toolbar, bookmark or Google you know you're on the genuine site.

Are you on Paypal or online banking? Trust you've acted if you are.

If you are getting suspicious popups it is likely you have some form of malware. Although a single website can be hacked, if you are getting popups from more than one it's your PC that was hacked. Do not trust any popups. Only trust pages where you can see the address and the address is correct. Although until you have a clean PC, trust nothing.

Malwarebytes is a good anti-malware program but ideally should be run from a disk/flashdrive installed from a clean PC rather than on your potentially infected PC, as obviously you can't assume a fresh install of any antivirus/antimalware program is uncorrupted on a PC that already has some degree of corruption.

A good basic level of protection is antivirus (many, though AVG Free is good and free), antimalware (e.g. MalwareBytes), antispyware (e.g. SuperAntiSpyware), and firewall (e.g. ZoneAlarm, Windows Defender). No doubt other programs are available (*cue BBC disclaimer*)

EDIT you can't trust bookmarks/toolbars - it's a matter of a moment for a virus/malware to add a false bookmark. The only sites you can trust are ones you enter the address for yourself, and even then I would be cautious on an infected PC.

Don't use PC just on android running AVG pro
And has found nothing. Don't get any pop up ads
Just the sites page I've been using asking to sign in
The flee bay pop up looked so genuine
just became suspicious when you can't navigate away
From it.

It was on the news last night

Forever changing passwords can't even remember
Them half of them myself

Just been cut off from my bank for getting the
Security question wrong then they

If you have mailware on your Android it will have come from an app you installed. Unlike windows based pc's the mailware cannot piggy back websites. Mobile AV provides very minimal protection and by many technical people is considered non essential on Android devices.

Because of the way the OS works, you have to give the permissions when installing the app.

I would also suspect that you have used your email address to register on various sites which may have security flaws and as a consequence someone has obtained your logon name but not your password. By completing the details requested you have now potentially provided it to them.

You need to log on to any online accounts you have and change your password starting with any online banking you may use.

Only download apps from trusted sources and check the permissions they require.

Fleabay has been hacked over here. Apparently it was in March/April but they didn't decide to tell us all till now . So yes password changes there.
Have already had to change paypal password as well. Friend had 1500 dollars taken from her paypal account last week.
So have been changing passwords all over the place and now can't remember any of them myself!

Recently received a letter from my bank saying that my credit card had been 'compromised' which apparently means that something dodgy turned up in the days takings of some shop you and a million others (or online) used, and so the shop notifies the banks and they cancel your cards (all of the ones used that day!) and you wait for another. Bit scary really!
I was going to buy some ebooks but afraid to use anything now.

Have never been comfortable with the notion of online banking. All Internet security systems have been devised by humans. As we've seen in recent weeks the '100% secure' system is not 100% secure after all.

There will always be some bright young thing in Russia or China who can be 'persuaded' to work for criminal purposes to compromise these systems.

I have a second bank account with another bank, containing only limited funds, which I use for Paypal, so if the worst happened I could only lose a small amount and not be cleaned out.

I normally use online banking as it's the easiest way to pay things. And also to keep check of what is happening with the accounts.
While I have a separate a/c which I use for things, I note that Paypal actually has the ability to move money from one of my accounts to another if I don't have what is needed on the one they have.

The bank also has the ability to move money between my accounts.

I've found that I can't purchase things sometimes if I don't have the ability to purchase them online.
It's really becoming hard to stay as safe as you'd like to be.
The ATM's are being targeted.
The shops obviously from the last episode I had.
And the banks are just not open often enough to be useful.
