Gorgeous place. I took LadyWayne there last year for her 30th.

Here's a couple more of the place.

Me chewing some straw and looking suitably cidered up at a ploughing match.

No, I can't understand why Teggs married me either!

Well, LadyWayne had set the bar by taking me to Le Manoir aux Quait Saisons two years prior for my 30th. I had to raise the game!

We popped into Hestons pub (boars head or something) in Bray for lunch, if you ever go, you have to have the triple cooked chips! Amazin'! The idea was to go to the Fat Duck for dinner, but they don't have rooms - so I opted for the Waterside - and wasn't disappointed.

Even Chris Evans is getting the Growing His Own bug... eh Paulottie! (my dad used to play me a record called 'Chewing a Piece of Straw' when I was a little girl.... ah!)

A friend of mine took her husband there for his 80th last week. He was very quiet for a couple of hours afterwards then asked if they could find a chippy 'cos he was still hungry. Sorry but knowing what she paid, delicious as the food may have been, I wouldn't have expected at that price to still be hungry.

Reckon if you come out still hungry, it's a rip-off. After all, restaurants are supposed to be for when you can't or don't have time to cook for yourself. Not to do one or the other after and pay a fortune for the "experience".

                        • Eaten at the Waterside and la Gavroche...Roux brothers still legendary, I seem to remember leaving both well fed, p*ssed, happy and broke. Never tried Le Manoir. but, I had hoped the days of 'nouveau cuisine'..trans...'pay more eat less' were over. I've only seen Heston Boominfella on the Tele but it all seemed like a chemistry experiment to me.

Just slightly irritated about 'The Lickfold Inn' -I was mates with the Landlord and the chef and it was pricey but great and worth it. I just don't want to see it with celebs and stupid prices.

Didn't know Chris grew veg? Didn't strike me as a get your hands dirty sort but I may be proved wrong and I'll be sure to tell you if I see him down the lottie

                          • Paul, ask him! - whilst I'm not a fan of his Radio 2 Drive Time programme at 5pm weekday evenings (because no-one could remotely be as gorgeous in the gigglesome shoes of Johnnie Walker, who moved to Sunday evening latterly?) Chris DID have a slot about growing vegetables himself, I understood at one point.... so yes, do ask him how it's going.

Maybe he was just enthused momentarily, maybe he's getting a real passion for it.
Who knows..... a lot of celebrity chefs themselves are now jumping on the bandwagon: the delias, jamies, martins, and it's about time too! where did they think good food came from before?!

Fresh as a daisy from outside your kitchen door just suits me fine!

                            • Wellie, you know I'm a 'Big Show' listener but I have to confess I often reach for the dial at 5pm or wander out of earshot to sort chickens, greenhouse, guinea pig and children. I did used to see him in the odd Soho pub many years ago when I was a young and hip dude about town. Should I go in and find him there I shall definately find out and see if he'll take a plot! we alredy have one lady who sends her gardener down!!!

I don't know but I get nervous about thing becoming too trendy/ the latest fad suddenly the prices rise till everyone gets bored by it.....I'm just too cynical, my apologies.

I read an artical by Jamie in a mag recently not sure he knew which end of the fork to hold or end of the carrot to eat, bless him, but he's genuinely trying I think. Possibly better to learn a little about the subject before publically lecturing though?
