    Very sad to hear this news, Frosty. Lots of men make up our lives - fathers, sons, brothers, grandfathers, but a husband or life partner is the one to whom we attach our heart forever. So sorry.

                                I was on earlier reading this thread but had to stop as I started bawling like a bairn. I know I am not the only one on the Vine who has lost a loved one but it is a very lonely situation. So thank you all for making me cry and for showing me that there are some really lovely peeps on the Vine.

                                David's funeral will be tomorrow and will be a humanist service, conducted by a retired ex-colleague. Guard of honour will be firefighters from his old station and pall bearers will be again old colleagues. David was a giant of a man (plus a really big softy). RIP
