  • I hate plumbing

Been working at a customers house who's had
No hot water in her bathroom sink since
    She bought her house.
    It was a new build
The builders gave up trying to find the
Fault and just never turned up.
Shes had several plumbers around who
Couldn't find the fault or didn't want to.

Found this under the tiled bathroom floor
Its not surprising she had no hot water

The value in the open position but closed

Had to remove bedroom floor next to the bathroom
and remove bath panel and cut holes under the bath
    To get to the pipes.

Happy customers now has hot water coming from
    Her bathroom sink

Do plumbing regs not cover the siting of isolation valves? In the electrical trade all junction boxes and connections etc should be accessible (should be being the appropriate word).

Yep but the main problem is there aren't many qualified plumbers out there, mainly self taught numpties. At one time you had to be a registered plumber and with extra qualifications and time on the job you could become a master plumber.

Now anyone can call themselves a plumber and advertise as such, that's why if you do plumbing work your public liability insurance carries an extra premium over just gas work which is of course regulated.

Not that many of the numpties carry insurance but the householder usually only finds out when they cause some damage and they can't make a claim. Funnily enough that's when the householder also finds out their own insurance doesn't cover them either.

All went out of window when self certification came in
everything covered up really difficult doing anything on new builds
Very little consideration for other trades on new builds
All to busy doing their own jobs and moving onto the next one
