  • Open Gardens?

We have an annual ' Open Gardens and Flower Show' in the village each year.About 40 gardens open, big and small. We have opened for about the last 8 years and have an acre of ornamental, veg ,fruit and chickens. It is always loads of work but extremely satisfying when the garden looks at its best and it really sets it up for the year. It's quite bizarre having strangers look around but most are complimentary and the rest tell you all about their garden! I'm getting everything ready for a weeks time so all a bit manic at the moment and I'm temporarily obsessed with the garden!!
Does anybody else put themselves through this and what is their experience ?

I've never opened my garden though I had planned to in the last house, but LIFE got in the way. I do so enjoy visiting other gardens though. It is so much easier to see how you can adapt and borrow ideas from people's gardens than from flower shows or big stately gardens. Well done you, I'm sure all your hard work will be worth it.

Thank you Ja9 on behalf of all who love to have a nose at other people's gardens. If I lived closer I'd come for a look at yours too.
It must be a lot of hard work to keep it looking good!!

i visited a lot of open gardens last year, very interesting and such a treat.

I would ask though, that all pathways are kept well clipped back and tidy: I got fed up getting scratched and wet legs in the end ...
