Well it's nearly upon us, and in celebration of that fact we had a World Cup dinner where we managed to honour 13 nations that qualified:
Firstly we had a cheeky glass of chilled fino sherry by way of an aperitif (Spain)
Nice bit of local English steak.
Accompanied by French fries (which as we all know, were a Belgian invention), some Courgette (sounds French!), and a little side salad of Mizuna (Japan), Feta (Greece) and tomatoes (which originated in the Andes, so I'm counting that as Ecuador!) drizzled with Olive oil and balsamic (Italy).
...all washed down with the last glass of last night's Aussie Shiraz and the first glass of a nice Chilean Merlot.
Then we fancied a bit of cheese and biscuits later on. Emmental (Swiss) Gouda (Dutch) and Jarlsberg (Norway...yeh I know they're not in the World Cup this time, but it needed eating up as was beginnig to overpower the smell of my slippers!). All with a glass of Port(ugal).

Of course I will be laughing on the other side of my face when England lose to Costa Rica and are on the plane home after a week!!
