Accentuate the positive etc etc - life looks so much rosier when you do
Do you want a leggy yellow cuc? I have 5 spares.

I could have commented about the woody turnips, but I'd have got all Beavis & Butthead about it.

I'll drop a couple off tomorrow for you. I think they are the little french ones from memory.

Ok VC, you sure you really want to hear what went in my 'stir fry' meal this evening?

All home produced - potatoes, onion, garlic, carrot, broad beans, mange tout, chard, + coriander. Only stuff that wasn't, mushrooms ,courgette and turkey. Lots of other spices, was very good.

About to have raspberries and strawberry coulis.

Feel very healthy and full of veg!

At the moment I can only harvest, garlic onions, pea shoots, sorrel, loganberries, and rhubarb. I'm a little late stepping up to the plate.

I haven't noticed the threads you are referring to, but wondered what can I do about my cucumbers they are a little yellow looking. I think its possibly the pot size has been outgrown but could it be a deficiency in the home grown compost perhaps? Is a 2" pot big enough for a 3 foot cuc?
                Dear Worried of Wales,
a two inch pot should be fine for a 3 foot cucumber, in fact I would never pot on into a 3 inch pot until I have at least 5 cucumber fruits over 12 inches long on the plant. If they look a little yellow, perhaps you have been feeding them too much custard? Try giving them a little gin instead.
If you have been growing your own compost, it could be that you harvested it before it was ripe, which would, indeed, lead to deficiencies in the nutrient value, and possible excesses in the pong value.

You've put my mind at rest MH, thank heavens for sound advise.

My compost is a little underdone, however one of last years pumpkins which is sitting in a bucket of water is definitely not. It is ripe bordering on vomit enducing, I'm just wondering what percentage to dilute it with as a liquid feed?

I would sit a pint undiluted and uncovered in the middle of a busy allotment, and measure the distance from the container to the furthest person that has passed out from the pong. Wait till they all come round, dilute the mix by 50% and try again. Keep doing this until you only K.O. immediate neighbours, and the dilution should be about right for using on your plants. HTH
