I haven't actually seen any offensive messages but I hope it all works out so we can get on here and find answers or give help in a informative or sometimes whimsical way with the world seeming to be getting nastier it is nice to come onto the site and read up and learn some more from our own community experts, i would say "thank you all for your help, when we had a few chooks we would have been lost without them ,they made our lives a lot easier.......

I also have not seen anything offensive (I've ben busy recently and not visiting as often as usual, which may account for it). As someone who has their own forum to moderate I fully understand the difficulties, and I think the mods here do a great job on a site with a large membership. This is probably the most useful forum I've seen and certainly the friendliest - long may it stay that way.

Don't be alarmed, TreeBee! We have the occassional ruffling of feathers on here, but far fewer spats than any other forum that I've been a member of, and we are friendly and helpful, by and large.

Why don't you pop into the 'introduce yourself' section and let us know about what you like to grow, and where you garden, then we can all get to know you properly?

                  Hi TreeBee

It really is a great forum, there is always a mix of sound advice and humour along with the occaisional who done it, not to mention Big Mally's projects.

I have only used the vine a few months but been welcomed with open arms.

Give us a go and see for yourself

A very warm welcome to the forum, dear TreeBee. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Trust me, this is a very friendly forum.

I haven't seen any sniping on here and am sorry to hear there has been some. I think it's one of the pitfalls of forums and email generally - we type words down rashly and things seem so much worse in black and white than they would spoken. There's also the fact that most of us don't know each other in real life and we are speaking to an idea of another person rather than a real one. I'm sure that's why things sometimes get out of hand. But having said all that, our moderators are fantastic and this forum is by far and away the best forum I have ever been a part of.

I've clearly missed quite a rumpus while I've had my hands full neglecting the veg patch, and to be honest I'm glad I did miss it. I'm new to really trying to make a success of veg gardening (as distinct from plonking some tomato plants in a grobag and not thinking about them again til they fruit) and this forum has only ever been friendly, helpful and exceedingly patient with my constant questions. I'm sure the forum won't ever lose that. I look forward to being able to contribute some wisdom when I've gained it.
Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?

I think we've all moved on big style from those posts Mrs C...it was a most unpleasant time for most of us.

The 'New Vine' is certainly a much more friendly place to be....just have a look at the more recent posts!!!
