Hmm already thought of a flaw in that idea, the pellets might float out the minute it gets into the water and before its under the jar. still thinking.

Just a thought.........if you put pellets in the tube then put your thumb/finger over the tube, would they still float out?

I think so because the idea of putting your finger over the end is to create a vacuum, pellets wont hold that vacuum because of the air spaces round them and when you submerge it water will flow in and break the vacuum anyway. probably.

Perhaps I am being a bit dumb here (nothing new) but how do you get food into it

Thought I'd put you out of your misery Bill................
What I did was get a bit o' timber, screw a container top to the end to use as a cup & nail (you could use a split pin) a bit o' plastic for a lid.


Fill the cup with pellets & spin the lid over them.


Place the cup under the tank & twist the stick so the lid drops down thereby releasing the food.

I am quite chuffed I was working on the same lines as you BM. Only yours is simpler therefore better. Thing is does it work ok?

The more lilly pads you have the clearer your water will be as it excludes light from the algae.

Are those Shabumkins or Koi?

Hi Bill, yes the feeder works like a dream. Have just returned from a freegler with a trug full of mini yellow water lilies, lovely. They are Shabunkins or Comets...........take ya pick..........

That's good because apparently Koi will eat all your plants but shabunkins don't, some of mine are 12 inches long now after about ten years. You will need a bigger tank lol.
Just hope you don't get blanket weed it really is a pain.

I think I got my blanket weed when a neighbour gave me some fish, it must have been in their water.
