  • No need to reply - just need to get this off my chest

In 2005 I made friends with a new family in my village, Brits, he had similar background to me, she had horses etc and a daughter, 9/10 years old.

We got quite close - to her rather than to him - and spent a long time together, meals, Xmas/New Year, that sort of thing.

Last year this time they had friends staying with them who I got quite friendly with. Year ago today they came here, had a very good evening, put the world to rights, they left here and within 20 mins 4 of them (friend's wife, step daughter, another 10 year old and her Dad) were dead, killed in a car crash, one vehicle, driver (the local expat) well over the limit, car overloaded, not enough seat belts. I had to ID the bodies, register the deaths etc and the fall out from this has been quite awful and is still going on, lots of legal stuff, for those in the SW, was on the local tele news Tuesday night.

Some friends and I are going to the crash site this evening - not my thing usually but I need somebody to talk to about it, they were involved with the aftermath also.

Please don't reply to this, I'm not looking for sympathy, help (I've been seeing a shrink for a few months anyway, brought up all sorts of crap from my past) or nice sentiments - I'm just so bloody angry that this happened and the people died, especially the kids and I needed to speak to somebody about it.

You ask us not to reply, and I respect that but just to say I've read your post and admire your strength in dealing with such a tragedy and waste of life.
We read of such things in the news, a few lines often but your post shows the real horror of such accidents and even more, the long-term effects.
Sympathy - you don't want it, I know - but thinking of you

It make you think when this sort of thing happens doesn't it Tony. I guess we should all live each day as though it was our last as you never know.

Just keep battling on, you'll get there.
