  • Major Rant

Now I am a very placid bloke and take things in my stride but today my blood boiled. Overnight, what I can only refer to as mindless idiots ( on here anyway) scaled the perimeter fence of the allotment site and went on a wrecking spree, no theft just mindless @$$&¥^/ vandalism!

Plants trampled down, polytunnels torn to threads, greenhouses smashed, sheds pushed over, the list goes on. I was fortunate to have escaped the damage but so many have suffered.

The police do no more than issue a crime number and the council cant do anything.

Stealing our crops to feed yourself and family is forgivable, distroying them and people's property is not.

Sorry to rant but I needed to sound off to people who understand the hours and money people invest in their plots.

I'm so sorry- I keep coming on here to post a reply to you, but I'm utterly gobsmacked .

Soul destroying comes to mind- but you all need to pull together on this and help each other clear up and find a way of trying to prevent it happening again (or at least trying to create a damage limitation if they were to return)

Don't let this put you off growing your own but I'm sure at the moment you are feeling very vulnerable.

It's okay. I'd be the same if it happened to me. I'm sorry it's happened.

Really sorry to hear that greenleaves.
          It just makes me angry.
I think it's terrible that people can do that, and have no respect for the time and effort people have put onto their plots.
Hope you can get back out there and salvage what you can and continue growing this year and it doesn't stop you doing what you enjoy.

Thanks Nicos, I just dont get the mentality of some people. I was no angel when growing up but I knew right from wrong.

We are putting a working party together to assist those that need it or indeed want it.

Givening up is not in my nature so this well not deter me from a hobby I love

Words fail me, GL. Just saying I'm sorry isn't enough but its all I can say without having to ban myself.
Hope all your fellow plot holders have the strength and determination to carry on regardless.

Totally pointless and very demoralising for all the victims, we had a spate of this on a slightly lesser scale a few years ago. I had my tunnel stabbed with canes and slashed on one side as well as pea and bean supports removed, immature apples and pears were cut off the trees, chickens taunted by having things thrown at them and the beautiful sunflowers grown my a plot holders young daughter cut down . Police and parish council no help to us either (council clerk said "well it is the summer holidays, will probably die down after that"! and police said we needed to ring them when an attack was ongoing........) but then one of the plot holders found out who was the ringleader and went round to see his parents who fortunately put a stop to it. Still not good though.

On a different subject, have now had to give the OP a mental sex change, always thought you were female......,

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
