If you want to know the times of moonrise and moonset (no point trying to look for the moon if it hasn't risen yet), this is quite a good site.

Moonrise, moonset, and moon phase in London

If you hover the mouse over the degrees in brackets the actual direction of rise or set pops up, which saves having to work it out and gives you an idea of where to look if you have a horizon to see it actually rise. I've seen sunrises loads of times, but never a moonrise.

I also like the way the info at the top of the page constantly updates - moon distance, moon altitude, moon direction. It's almost like watching it move through the sky. (Should I be wearing an anorak, I wonder?)

Nice link- I've bookmarked it! ...and changed location

we now officially have moonrise( behind the hill) and so far we have about 20% cloud.

              ...still have a chance

                        YEY!!!!
                        Yup...I can see the moon!

Tis huuuuge and light amber. Really, really pretty!

And to the south I can see Mars and apparently, hidden behind a tree , is Saturn! Both just above the horizon.

                        Lovely night for viewing.

Its huge, very bright and very clear.
Does anyone else think that the dark patches on the moon's surface are identical to the land masses on Earth. I would swear that Africa or South America are at the lower left of the moon.
