  • What can be done with defrosted strawberries

Thanks to one my men folk,i have a lot of well defrosted strawberries, could be up to 2 days ago the plug was pulled, some are sitting in the water on the bottom, other are in baskets and on the shelf, they are all in plastic freezer bags, the lid was only lifted this morning,so my questions are,
1... is it safe to use them up another way,
2... what suggestions do you have please,

I would certainly use them to make jam and wine. I am not sure but, as they are not meat, they could be re-frozen. PLEASE check on this first though.

I would have thought that, although defrosted for a couple of days that the freezer temperature would still been around a fridge temperature when you discovered them?

I'd go with jam too because of the high temperatures involved in it's making?

As scarey says- best to check first...but I'd go down the jam route just to be safe.

Well,i have got some out,the oven has 3 shelves with strawberry crumbles, when cool i will have to divide up and refreeze, the bacon bits are being cooked with onion, for the culprits, and will be served with salad for lunch, together with some defrosted beetroot, then will have a think on what to do with the rest,as in suggestions received,am pleased that at least they are very cold still, with very little ice,i maybe refreeze some in small portions,to use in trifles and milk shakes later in the year,am not very good at strawberry jam, plus i have not got full use and strength in my dominant arm,to be messing about with really hot stuff,I like the couli/sauce idea to,as that can be done and refroze when cool,

This thread can now be put to bed ,all sorted, did portions of crumble, refroze some in smaller portions, but the best is the sauce, couli,by the time i got to that i had enough,so put the remains in the jam pan with some sugar, after it had dissolved it was given a good do with turbo foot, and gently boiled until thick, when it was cold i froze most of it,now why did i not know how to do this before,it is delish,my only regret is i should have done more of it,instead of so much crumble,i worked out it must have involved aprox 20 pound of strawbs, thank you to those who gave input
