  • From ashes a Phoenix shall rise

17 out of 53 plot holders came together this afternoon to help restore some semblance of order to our site after vandalism reared its mindless head earlier in the week.

Most of us know each other to raise a courteous hand in acknowledgement but have never really spoken but that all changed this afternoon. I must say the cameradery was out of this world. I have always believed adversity is the mother of opertunity and that was really aparent this afternoon.

Not only did we clear up the mess left (broken glass and smash shed doors), we donated plants and debris netting to help those who suffered the heartache of having crops trampled to death. Two of the guys proved very handy at woodwork and soon things were looking so much better

In addition people started talking about swapping plants, bulk buying manure later in the year and so on. They has never been a site show before but we have decided to have one on the August bank holiday weekend but not just about produce. We have decided to have prizes for:

    Best kept plot
    Best first year plot
    Best use of space

one downside, someone decided to open a several of bottles of homemade wine....my tongue is still numb, but the paint brushes are clean!

    What a super afternoon....

How wonderful Greenleaves - out of the negatives have come some huge positives. It is always heartwarming to read posts like this that restore one's faith in humanity.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I'm so happy that some good has come out of the actions of mindless thugs.

Nothing better than a numb tongue and clean paintbrushes 😉

Great stuff...people always show their good sides when adversity strikes! Well done everyone involved.

P.s. Any of that wine left my paintbrushes need a clean!

So glad something good has come out of the bl****y mindlessness of others. Your tongue should be back to normal in a week or two (that's how long mine took after sampling some home made wine)
