  • My most enjoyable summer yet.

I've really enjoyed this summer. Each seems better than the previous.

I used to despise hot weather. Maybe it's an age thing but I seem to not only be a bit better at tolerating the heat as I get older but I also seem to know better how to pace myself; taking breaks, sipping ice water, wearing a hat, dressing in cooler clothes. Just simple stuff that I didn't take time to do when I was younger.

Maybe I should take the time to drink a beer or two during the day to see if that helps even more. What do you think?

I am enjoying this summer too, DWS! Mainly because, now I am retired, I don't have to go to work! So I can please myself, pace myself, take naps in the hottest part of the day and walk the dog when it gets cooler Plus which, I got the dog late last summer and she has brought a whole new dimension to my days
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

You should do whatever makes you happy, Dan
I enjoy every summer, although I can't remember most of them. That's probably an age thing too

Life without a dog is like dancing without music - you can do it, but why would you?

I have to add that this summer has been fabulous in West London - and the walks in the park have been a big part of it I have met some wonderful people dog walking and the wild hedgerows are full of goodies like wild plums, blackberries, elderberries and sloes. Not to mention beech nuts and hazel. I can eat my way round the park with the dog - which I never knew existed 12 months ago!

It's been a lovely summer for me as it's my 2nd year of growing. Rectified mistakes we made last year growing wise, and still made a few mistakes this year. So next year should be perfect, we will see. I take lots of pics and one day my fuddled brain will work out how to show you all.

This summer has been lovely. My first as a retiree, my first full season on the allotment, my first summer with a greenhouse. May it go on forever!
