  • Started August on a positive note

Some of you will have realised from passed threads that I always try and keep positive even when little set backs occur....yes I get mad sometimes but say my piece and move on.

Just thought I would share my positive start to August:

Firestorm runner beans....fantastic setting, I have never had so many flowers form beans

Musselburgh leeks are doing fantastic....again at this point my best ever

    Swift sweetcorn....looking very promising

    Flyaway carrots.....super sweet

    Green Bush couguetts.....just keep cropping

    Brasicas all doing well

I could go on but will just get boring for you to read as in fact nothing is doing badly this year

I hadn't even realised it was August. Maybe we should all take a (green)leaf (ha ha sorry) out of your book and each post something positive in this thread if you wouldn't mind Greenleaves? Everything I've got growing this year looks really healthy and is catching up nicely, the rain over the last few days has done wonders up here. That's what we need, the right mix of sun, heat and rain. Happy days

Overall I would rate this year as poor mainly due to voles but in keeping with the thread, my Parsnips are about 2ft tall. Let's hope they are 2ft deep as well..............

Am toying around with the idea GL but don't know if the roots have to be kept in the dark or if it's just me that needs to be kept in the dark.............

I'm having my best year ever for courgettes. Year before last I had none - lost 60 plants to slugs, last year was mediocre, this year they're fantastic
A bucket of courgettes will always put a smile on my face

Well I seem to have quite a few spuds, some perpetual spinach, some parsnips and a couple of beetroot on my plot - and the apple trees on the other plot are laden.
At home I have some going-to-seed rocket (time to re-sow) and a chilli plant in a pot which has quite a few on it - and some tomatoes in a pot that I want to ripen because they are PW French Black!
All in all, more than I deserve for the effort I put in.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
