Our cat, Michael, was born to a feral Mum, under my husbands work bench in his factory. She took 3 kittens away, but left him behind. So he came home with us aged 10 days! No fleas thank goodness, but we had to have a quick feeding and toiletting lesson from our vet. We have great memories of him, our kids 'furry brother' and he sadly died aged 19 1/2
From a liver tumour, sad. We never replaced him .....

I'm not a cat fan but I sure enjoyed reading everyone comments! I'm sure if a tiny homeless kitten found its way into our garden I might just have to keep it.

She's lovely, DW. Glad she's found a good home with you.

Most of the cats I've had over the years have been ones that "arrived", and then stayed to fill a cat shaped hole. I think a lot more cats choose owners than owners choose cats!

That was a fine thing you did.

You've got a good heart, dear DW.
                              God bless you.

I thought I'd give an update. Charlotte is still doing fine and still seems attached to me more than anyone else.

November/December of 2018 Mr. Peepers showed up. He was just a bit more than a kitten but my has he grown. He's a big orange cat. If he hadn't shown up he might have been dead since the temperatures outside hit -25*F two nights in a row and we hadn't tamed him enough to get him inside. We set up a heated, insulated shelter/igloo for him.

About 5 weeks ago Tinker showed up. She's still just a kitten and is at the vet's going under the knife today. She's almost white with a tinge of yellow.

Do you think word has gotten round that people should dump their unwanted cats in front of our house? That's 5 cats that have adopted us in 13 years. Fortunately our daughter wants this one.
