You wouldn't necessarily feel that if you had felt the bullying tactics that they can exert in your local area.

They're like a pernicious weed aren't they? We're starting to get these mini-Tesco things appearing like a rash.

We're getting submerged in the mini ones also and I found out recently that the garage up the road where I have my car MOTed is to become another one. There isn't any need what so ever as there's already a COOP and Spar within walking distance and a Lidl, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Sommerfield within about 1.5 miles. The smaller shops don't stand a chance.

Where I live, I've got a Tesco's Hypermarket 2 miles to the left (biggest in UK i've been told) and a huge Dobbies Garden Centre, 2 miles to the right!

Hope to cripes they don't think about buying the bit in the middle!

Well, if they start employing house elfs, may improve the service in some stores!

That's cos they took over Dillons a couple of years back and seem to quietly be turning all these into Tesco 'Express' (think that's what they are called?). Scary.

                      LOL

Can think of a few places that would benefit from employing a Dobby or two...

You don't think they saturate an area with Tesco in order to close down the competition do you? Then when they are totally dominant in an area, they can close down some of their own stores to cut costs ... not saying they do, but it's rumoured that some of the American Coffee Chains employ this ruthless business practice (practise? I'm never sure)

We don't have any Dillons here though - they are taking over all sorts of premises to produce these Tesco Expresses (thanks, I'd forgotten the term!). I'm afraid I'm with 2 sheds on this - conspiracy theories are alive and well!
