I went outside to do my few chores I do before work. I let the 2 big dogs out so they can play tag with each other. I hoed half the garden while the hens watched/supervised from their pen. There must be an event coming up or else in progress. Six horse drawn wagons have gone past the house that I've seen so far.
Glad I'm working from home this week. It gives me some extra time to do some things in the mornings while it's cool.
Some of my co-workers are into boating, motorcycles, and trailer camping which I can understand but if I say anything about my vegetable garden, fruit trees, berry bushes, pond, chickens, or bees they just zone out. I know that stuff isn't super exciting but it is interesting. I've learned to keep quiet about it with my co-workers.
What do you folks do when you encounter friends or family that just don't understand the enjoyment of doing 'normal' things outdoors?
(I should add that one of the guys at work says that if a 'Stuff Hits the Fan' or 'The End of the World as We Know It' scenario should occur he's immediately bringing his family to our place. I told him they'd have to get in line behind my kids and their families. As far as I can tell he's not doing any preparation for such a scenario. And I'm not doing what I do for such a scenario. I do these things for enjoyment but they'd sure come in handy if problems were to arise.)
