Today Leeds & District Allotment Gardeners Federation (LDGAF) have been in court today to receive the best news in that we have won our judicial review case against Leeds City Council.
In a nutshell last year LCC decided that they were going to increase allotment rents in Leeds over the next 3 years by over 150% as well as reducing the percentage self managed sites retain for maintaining sites. No amount of talking got us anywhere or through their appeals process so we LDGAF took the very brave decision of taking LCC to court, and today we got the Judgement that the process has been quashed and is considered unlawful. BLOODY FANTASTIC news just proves sometimes you have to stand up to the big guys.
We now have to re-enter negotiations with the council on a fair and even playing field which is what should have happened in the first place.
