  • Accidental porn site visit

    Hi
Yesterday I bought some gumbie shoes, as there was no information provided with them and they were so comfy, thought I'd google and find out what they were made from etc. Going through sites with the word gumbie I somehow got into a porn sit, after only a quick flash (!) I closed it down immediately - it was not nice. Then I got a microsoft warning to say the site was blocked - would have been grateful if they'd done that before not after, I'd have to clean my computer of the file and among other dire warnings said it could affect my credit rating. Who is monitoring this??

When I entered the grapevine this evening was reading through and then felt moved to reply to a thread when I found I was blocked and I've had to reregister.
    Is this connected???
God knows how I got on to this wretched site, but worringly easy to come across this digusting stuff

I don't know, it was just one of those messages that come up via microsoft, perhaps they are just trying to scare you into taking on some more software? I just cleared out all the cookies and then emptied the recycle bin.
But the credit rating thing, if it is correct, must mean that companies can access your computer surely, how else would they know?
But it worries me that I got kicked off the forum on the same day, is there some message flagging up on my computer saying Unclean, unclean....

Not a nice experience sue .
Tools - Internet options - Delete browsing history - Delete all and tick the box to delete add ons .
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A RECORD OF YOUR PASSWORDS ETC FOR ANY SITES ETC YOU VISIT AS THIS WILL WIPE THEM ALL and you will have to put in your password when you come to log in again. It would also be a good idea to update your anti virus and anti spyware programmes and run them all. When you have done all this empty your recycle bin and restart your computer.

I use a program called crap cleaner to get rid of useless files. Each time I run it I have to re-log into all my programms as it wipes out the good cookies as well as the bad ones. I am aware of this and just need to re-log once. If you have any anti spyware installed it will do this as well depending on how it is setup!

Thanks for the instructions, I haven't got spyware, what's that?
and Snadger where do I get crap cleaner?
As I work at home, I only have the one computer so will also tell our IT bloke and get him to update/strenghten my protection.

Does that mean that the wretched thing has still left a trace on my computer? I seem to be OK now I've reregistered though.
What with this and the plumbing in my flats going up the creek - today has not gone smoothly.

Everytime the security does a full system check it picks it up but never kills it off. I would get your IT man to check it out.

another one that pops up every now and then is a page that states you are been tracked and need to down load this software and it dosn't matter how many times you restart your computor and log on the net it will not go away.
all you have to do is change your home page when you sign on the net , as this is what they did in the first place.
this one is a scam so anti virus or firewall will not stop it as its just a normal type page of writing and on it will be your computor id to make you feel unsafe and buy there download.

I use CCleaner as well - it does have a feature so that you can let it know which cookies you don't want deleting. When you run the program it will delete everything EXCEPT the cookies that you don't want clearing.
