Just a reminder that you don't even have to write anything to show your appreciation of something - just hit the LIKE button. I lurve seeing that I have "Likes" - gives me a warm fuzzy feeling (or is that the effect of too many of Hazel's Bisgedi)

I know most of you think that I've been gabbling away on here for years since I joined the Vine in 2006 but I honestly was too shy to post anything until about 2010. I've been making up for lost time since.

You're all a wonderful bunch of people and, having met some of you, I know you're just as kind and considerate in real life as you are on here.

We can't all put our happy faces on every day - even I have a miserable one hanging in the back of the wardrobe. Its not a face you want to see so I keep it to myself. For me, a disaster is just a challenge to do better next time. If its a gardening disaster I know that you will all help me out, pooling your knowledge and experience - or offering me a cuppa and some CAAAAAAAAAAAKKEEEE. I hope I've always remembered to "Like" and say Thanks each time. If not, have a big one for all you've done for me, and others, over the years

I have found the like button. I am very basic on the pooter :-)
If someone has lost their smile, give them one of yours. :

Children seldom misquote you. In fact they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said

I only pop on here every now and again but it is a nice helpful place. I always try to remember to say thanks for advice but in case I forgot, thanks a million to anyone who's given me advice over the last year or two.

I'm quite glad a few people have mentioned being a bit shy...I actually wrote that and then deleted it from my first message to the thread.

It can be a bit intimidating when everyone seems to know everyone else in the chatty threads. I'm even too panicked to add a song to the song chain thread (how rubbish am I). But I realise that the only way to get known is to contribute...

I know we are all different, but I really do think (like others have said) manners cost nothing and thanking people for advice and their time shouldn't even be in question on these forums or in real life, for that matter. Having a stranger bother to read my requests for help, and take time to post a reply or a friendly comment...well, it means a lot to me.

I've only been a member of this forum for a few weeks now & it's a real great community of people! I love having a noisy at other grapes Gardens/Allotments. I've only posted a few threads & always been given great advisor.
Before joining the forum I tended to search online for information but I never quite go the right answer. On here its just like chatting to your neighbour over the fence!

I'm sure next year I will be asking way more questions as I've definitely got the GYO bug and I'm sure all of you guys will be offering me the best advisor by far!

                I like that analogy

I liken the Vine to a good allotment community for myself. As to new comers, just kick the door in nobody will slam it in your face.

Its sorta like, i dont feel i am as experienced as others and feel that i havent passed the gardening test yet.......hope you know what i mean by that.
I know exactly what you mean by that and I think a lot of others feel the same as we all tend to use a similar phrase "I would do this............but......I'm sure someone more experience will be along soon with the answer"

I love this forum and it did take me quite a while to join in. I have even become one of the GoTo people on our allotments for advice because of what I have learned from the people here.
