I got an allotment in April. I think I just got lucky as I only waited 2 weeks. I too have a fairly small garden so not enough space for fruit bushes or veg. Now I have plenty of space. I really enjoy it, it's a hobby and I enjoy learning new things and planning what I'm going to do. I work full time so can only go at the weekend and sometimes one evening in the week. I would definitely go for it, and if it doesn't work out then give it up. Nothing to lose.

You've made the right decision Carrie because you'll have more space and most importantly it will all be yours.

Definitely put your name down, you'll love it. I do mine on my own, had it for 4 years now, and they were new 'undug sites' , so a lot of work, but so worth it. If you find it's too much you, you cud maybe rope in a friend to help out.

Ah, now I see I'm too late with my comment, and you've already sent your form off. Excellent!

Ours run April to April, with the financial year as it were.

Make sure you have the time for it. If you never manage to get on top of the weeds, you'll just end up hating the whole thing.

I'm putting in 8 hrs a week, minimum April to September. I pop up just once a week with compost during winter.

Big, fat, horrible, orange Slugs! I don't like big, green caterpillars much either.

But the positives outweigh the negatives by far, food with flavour, fresh air, exercise, time to think, and time to chat.

Waited 3yrs for mine! and refused the first one offered as it was right in a bottom corner of a site with only one access point! Yep ya guessed! At the entirely opposite end of the site, logistically, getting stuff in and out would have been an absolute nightmare! :0 Not only that, it was situated directly at the rear of a 60ft high industrial unit, casting shade all day long!
sorry! going off cuff! my point being you don't have to accept there first offer, the council (I,m presuming a little here) if yours are council run, have an obligation to offer what meets your needs (To a certain extent!)
Hey! You've bitten the bullet, and "Gone for It" good on ya!

Be prepared for a lot of hard work to begin with Carrie, if like myself the second one I got offered was a little "Rough Around The Edges" but south facing, which concluded the decision for me!

Oh! n my rent letter hit the doormat on Tuesday!

£60.00 this year, including water! Be the best £60.00 I spend all year!

Love my little "Oasis" wouldn't be without it!

Hope yours turns into your "Oasis" too! Go "Break a leg" when ya get it!
