For me September is very special, its the month I got my life back and is normally the month when I have a decent harvest. September is the stepping stone between seasons and long walks in the country with dew covered webs and an abundance of foraging to be had.

I also think September is a time for reflection on my growing year and the start of preparation for the next

I love the colours of September and the beginning of Autumn. I like the changes that happen in the kitchen, casseroles, roasts etc. I like the changes and smells that happen along the river.

I don't like the shorter days, the lack of light, and knowing that the winter is on it's way, and Spring is a long way off.

I dont like September beginning of sad times for me....

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
And darker days are drawing near,
The winter winds will be much colder,
        Now youre not here

I watch the birds fly south across the Autumn sky,
And one by one they disappear,
I with that I was flying with them,
        Now youre not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me,
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

I love September and October (my birthday's in October ) Autumn is so beautiful with all the colours, the weather isn't too hot and lots of butterflies everywhere. And loads of blackberries, especially this year so lots of blackberry and apple crumbles to enjoy!

I like all the seasons but spring and autumn are my favourites.

I love this time of year! although the season is not totally over! things still to gather n harvest, time to dwell on the hectic but rewarding season gone by, the up's! the downs! and the in betweens! But hate to admit, on the slippery slope of darkened days toward Autumn n winter!

But hey! reflections done! it's time to start re-planning for next year!

that as to be a bonus!

What is summer? I do not know
Where does it come from, where does it go?
From summer flowers so bright and sweet
To vibrant golds and nuts so sweet
But alas it has to go, like when the sun sees the snow
As the days turner darker now, its time to stop and reflect upon those barmy days
when everything grew according to natures ways.

Although I love the changing color of the leaves I always feel sad at this time of year. It feels like the beginning of the end. Everything is winding down. the days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer and darker and it seems like a very long time till next spring when we can start the growing season all over again.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I love September. I think the light is so clean and golden, the weather is always wonderful(as I remember it), but it is tinged with sadness at the years end coming, cold dark days, and spring so far off.

Now that did it for me CS - a) lost my hubby to cancer in September and b) always loved the Moody Blues. One tearful Jeanied this evening - drat.

Never mind - dog licking my face and playing the fool because she has to keep me happy.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I lost my husband to cancer in September too - but he told me to always be happy - so I am I always did what he told me to
You can never change what has happened but you can remember the happy times - the happy Septembers that you shared.
