I received a letter from 'Ilkley in Bloom' today telling me that my plot has been judged the top plot at our allotment site!!!!!
It is a mystery to me, as I didn't knowingly enter the competition, but perhaps it is something that happens automatically at our allotments.
Anyway, I'll be presented with a 'salver' at a presentation tea on 1st October at a local hotel.
I can hardly believe it, as it has been such a bad year what with rabbit, slug, badger, cabbage white, etc, etc, attacks. But plots are apparently judged on good maintenance and 'all round variety of good quality planting' so maybe the judges overlooked the problems.
So chuffed!!
