Was looking at replacing a book that I lost about foraging and found this The Foragers Apprentice - Foraging iPhone App
    Does anyone use this app?

No, but please let me know how it is if you get it, I is interested too
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

i tend to keep my eyes open when i'm out anywhere .... if i spot something, i take a pic and look it up online when i get home .... i can't imagine standing in the woods or a field for ages trying to work out what it is from an app ....

Me neither, Farmer G - I'm not very good with phones - as a few people here will confirm
I would gather a few leaves and berries and bring them home to look up - in books and goggle You get to know what to expect to be in season which narrows it down considerably.

I keep Food for Free by Richard Mabey (ISBN: 0007183038) in my walking coat.

I haven't used any foraging app, as I've yet to come across a decent one.

Same here, I always have an eye peeled for edibles and I usually know what it is by the time it's ready to pick. My family foraged for food when I was a kid, mushroom picking was a family day out, I always knew where the good crab apple trees were or the best spots for blackberries...went out to a large party last night at friends for a special occasion. We all had to take a plate of food. I was awarded a big kiss from an elderly gentleman who loved my apple and blackberry pie, the old favourites win hands down!

I've got that one although it would be much better with photos rather than drawings. Got the River Cottage hedgerow handbook too which is pretty good and OH has half a dozen mushroom ones which he cross checks between to be 100% sure. Do google some things but can't imagine using an app.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
