They have buckets the same as B&Q but black! less garish than the dayglow orange 99p. Also got smaller dia ones with same depth like a long tom pot they hold 10litres. Ideal I recon for tomatoes 69p

I've seen a few on local skips - often when people are having bathrooms or kitchens done - grout buckets and the like. What has stopped me skip-diving has been the look of the set-hard crud on them and a quick read of the contents!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

BW- I posted that info as there had been a ot of talk about the B&Q buckets on here earlier in the year and I would much rather have a black bucket than B&Q orange. I agree with your sentiments about recycling but agree with Flum that it might be a bit dodgy growing toms or pots in "buckets" that have had chemical in them.It's not the growing old I mind but the growing stupid with it!Comment

Here you go vertangie. However, I do lots of growing in the flower buckets that the supermarkets use. Ask at your local store and see what their policy is - Morrisons here sells them 8 (have had 16 in a bundle though) for 99p, our Asda and Tesco send them back but I have heard that many Asda stores give the buckets away free. They are great for spuds, tomatoes, dwarf beans and this year I am trying sweetcorn in buckets as I haven't gotten the ground dug for them. Just drill holes in the bottom and add crocks and soil (compost) and off you go. I maybe have to feed more than with beds but they help me extend the quantity of things I can grow.
