  • My First Baking Class

Last night was my first baking class!

Our lesson was making dough, no baking just getting us used to how to prepare the dough and what it should feel like. The demonstration looked so easy but I soon learnt that there is a bit of a knack to it.

The scary part is I have to bake 8 rolls for next Thursdays class at home from the notes I made last night…think I wrote everything down. I promise to give you all a laugh and post some pics of my attempt irrespective of the result.

I have to admit as much as I hate too, I did actually enjoy it…..watch out Paul Hollywood, I am coming to get you!

Sounds ace, GL! Is this a taste of things to come once you are fully retired??

GL glad you enjoyed your first class and you'll soon get the hang of handling dough and pastry like you say its just a knack.

After all these years I'm still practising GL, so I'll be jealous if you get it right first time, but here's hoping you do!

A tip from me, although I'm sure it will be in your notes, is to beware draughts especially at this time of year. My kitchen has fans and doors and windows that rising bread doesn't like. I use a large cardboard box to cover the dough.

          Good luck!

Well done GL! I went on a bread making course with a friend (who's a food technologist) for her birthday treat. We used different organic flours to see what the differences were in taste and finished product, it was really interesting.....you could use your bread maker to do the kneading, or is that cheating???

            Looking forward to pics
