Yes Polly they were happy days... long gone is the ability to give a slap around the head.. some of them need it I can tell you. And yes, when I first started out i'd have been proud to have cleaned the head lads saddle and gladly taken the 'red bum' so he didn't have to! No-one would have done that for me in my last job.

And noone wears jodphurs anymore, pride has gone and vanity is in its place.

Flummery that made me laugh. I do often suffer from SPS (short person syndrome) in a store and my OH is not much taller but we have a good laugh between us.
