My husband carved our pumpkin this year. It's an evil tree...with two love hearts as we met 22 years ago today. Aww.

I feel really sad now. My beloved pumpkin is going to have to go to the compost heap in a few days.
I remember when I sowed the seed.
I remember when it was a mere seedling on my windowsill.
                      I remember planting it out.
I remember seeing the first female flower...
We've eaten the soup, carved the fruit, roasted the seed and now it's all over .

                        The memory can liveth on...........

Still got another one intact on the kitchen counter! Saving seeds from that one as it was riper when cut off the vine if a bit smaller. My mahoosive one went to my son's playschool. All from the same plant. AND I still have a few seeds left from the original seeds that I bought.
I just get very attached to my produce!

I have this totally mental picture of you, tears in your eyes, waving goodbye to the mahoosive one as it went off to school, clutching a bag with a packed lunch and some school books.............

and it never came home again..............

Did you hand pollinate? Squashes etc are notoriously promiscuous, they will cross without shame.
