    Forums are "odd" places.
I "left" one after a warning that said I had written something contentious in a post.
All fair in a way except that there was no post, I had put the comment on a PM that I had opened by saying "Sending as a PM so as not to cause arguements."

So I asked why the warning when no post, not in public, the message even explained why it was a PM and not a post and then asked if it was also normal for Mods to read through PM's. Never got an answer to any.

Did get told off for telling one person they were not gods gift to man, didn't know as much as they liked to think they did and was basically a jumped up little S**t.

I probably did deserve that telling off, however 3 other people clicked "Like" before the telling off. What really was fun was that one of the Likes came from one of the Mods.

A similar US forum wouldn't bat an eyelid at someone saying "You're an idiot." or "You're talking out your rear."

Abandoned one forum where if you had an opinion different to the Mod that looked after one of the main sections then they just would not accept that you had a different view/opinion. It was literally "My way or no way!"

I suspect that if someone is looking for a research topic for a PhD in Psychology then looking into "The World of Forums and People on them" is a prime subject.

      ouch!
much as I agree with all of the above....how infuriating it must be for you to be banned without the opportunity to state your case.

I got banned from a well known allotment forum once....long, long time ago. Well, actually, somebody else got banned and they set up a new site. I popped in to say hi and have a nose (as you do) and when I tried to log on to the original site I got a message that "anyone registered as a member on a banned person's forum would face an automatic ban themselves from this one"

The internet doesn't just breed trolls you know....it spawn tyrannical dictators too You're best off out of it if that's how they play

No it's not normal for Mod's to have the ability to read PM's, but it is not unusual for PM's on forums to have a "Report" button, if the receiving member clicks the report button a copy of that message is then sent to Mod's &/Admin who will then discuss & take any action deemed necessary.

I would add that the report function is available on this forum, it is a black triangle that turns red when your cursor is on it.
