On a serious note, how (& out of what) were the tree branches made ? there are some properly talented cake makers out there

Most likely it's just standard fondant, rolled out the stamped out with a cutter and left to dry.....put biggest one on cake, blob of icing, nest biggest on top, blob of icing and so on.
