I wonder,do the puppies go quieter just before birth, like humans do,
Is she gaining puppy weight, also have you measures here girth,if you keep a hand on her tummy when it kicks into action, can you feel any little lumps/puppies move
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these
VC - "one off kick-ups" sounds very much like puppies to me.
Now before panic sets in again, why not go back over this (somewhat gigantic) thread and print out the posts you found most useful, so you have kind of a check list and timetable for you to refer to. Or maybe you did that already?
Remember, whelping hasn't started until there is considerable panting over quite some time. Until then, you can try and relax Once she's starting to pant she will feel distressed and will need your company and constant supervision.

Have a few s from me!
That was soooo important that nellie had to post it twice lol
Thanks Nellie I've been back through this thread many times. I think Bessie may be about to test me on how much I remember
Fortunately, I have a friend staying who is a lot more relaxed about the whole process than I am. I hope Bessie is too!
No panting yet. She's asleep, behind me, on the chair, and edging me off slowly.

ha! I thought that was a just a hound trait. My three are world class experts at that particular sport
I haven't had a guess because I'm superstitious about such things (but I hope it's tonight).
Of course....you won't be able to rehome them anytime soon...what with krissmas and all, I predict a multi dog household for you
Thanks Nellie ... She's asleep, behind me, on the chair, and edging me off slowly.
Is there anyone who has owned a small dog or a cat, who hasn't faced this challenge? They join you in the chair and snuggle against your back, (so you have to sit up straight and not slouch back). Then after a while they strrrrretchhhh, all four feet in your back, and you shift forward a bit. They curl back up, but closer to you again. Every five minutes or so the manoeuvre is repeated, until at last you're sitting on the floor and they have the whole (warmed) seat.
There is no messy stuff during whelping, VC, really, it's all just a great and exciting experience
BTW apart from seeming not to accept my posts (which is why I accidentally posted twice), the Grapevine plays this practical joke on me where I want to go to the last page, or last post, and I keep landing on page 2 of this thread. I have to log out to be able to see the last post, and then log in again. Anyone else get this?

The Siamese cat version involves stretching the claws as well as the legs, so unless you want holes in your back - you move to another chair

Whats small got to do with it. When we had our greyhound he was not content until he had managed to make us uncomfortable to the point he got the 3 seater sofa to himself. Heaven forbid you try and sit down with him you would get a low growl of disapproval - daft dog.
