If I'm seeing your piccie correctly...
That's exactly where I temporarily put my abandoned chook eggs when the young mommy chooks forget about them for a while in winter!
Can't think of anywhere more cosy!

Just hope Bessie doesn't have lots of pups that need somewhere cosy.....................
Well done Lisa, for looking after these unloved dogs. I find it so hard to understand how people can treat a living creature in the same way as a fag packet.
Only kittens I'm afraid.
That was easy. Wasn't my cat but she came n and had kittens and stayed for a few weeks until I found them a new home together.
Congratulations on your impending event, VC! Do keep a close eye on Bessie and the vet's number and your car keys close at hand. Small dogs can often have difficulty giving birth owing to Mum's small body and pup's large head. Hope all goes well and you only have 2 or 3 not 12 or 13 as my sister's red setter did
Had a baby Horse once (not personally, you understand - I'd be walking even wonkier by now, I'm sure! ), but my Ma used to breed dogs, so been through it a couple of times.
You may have already been told this, but 'experts' say wherever she is with them, she needs to be able to lie without squashing them. Most whelping boxes have a bar round the edge, so the bitch can lay against it, and the pups can get behind her without getting squashed. How they manage in the wild, I never know! Lol
