Most puppies are born after a restless night, in the early hours of the morning. From the first to the last puppy it may well take several hours. It's often two in more or less quick succession (one from the left and one from the right side) and then a break. Try and get some sleep while you can, VC, pull away from the screen and get some rest, the next days will be exciting and Bessie needs you more than we do. We'll all just keep pacing with fingers crossed

Aww bless her, she is trying to get comfy to achieve her next task. Hope all goes well in the night for you all - sure you are going to be up to check on them both anyway. Same as me - 4 hours in, I have to be up to take baby out!Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Make that plastic crate in the corner the comfiest of all and put a nice big chair next to it where you sit and read your book. She'll want your company so that will make this corner more attractive. Make it a quiet, peaceful place so she will feel safe and able to settle when it's time. Put some nice soft bedding in, too, that she can scratch around, you can always take it out when she's getting serious (constant panting for hours).
You could just shut the doors to some rooms, too, to limit her options. If you could put something in front of that crate so she can get inside without much jumping it would be great.
Here's a Bolonka for you
