I came down at 5.30 and she hurled herself at me as usual, so I gave her a biscuit and went back to bed.
I read that they go off their food 24 hours before birth. She's just wolfed down her breakfast

Mine have had dinner an hour before the puppies came. It may be true for some bitches but don't rely on it.
You see how much she craves your presence. Any way you could have her near you at night until the puppies are born? I always had a guest bed in my whelping room when a litter was due so I could stay with the dam. It won't be that long now anyway

Thanks nellie Bessie has stayed close ever since I've had her. I've borrowed a dog crate and am hoping that will be her chosen nest. Maybe I could move it upstairs at night for her. Its that or I sleep on the kitchen floor

I am 'better late than never'. Had to go to an emergency first thing this morning a burst boiler. Only jus got back.
