So now I've had time to catch up with this thread and join in the waiting. Looks like she'll have plenty of milk for the little phantoms anyway. any chance you could post a piccy of her from the side, standing up? It might be easier to see what's happening that way.

I've been a doggy midwife several times, and a goat midwife, and once for a cat and kitties. The most memorable time was when I was visiting my sister, and she told me she had a new bitch from a rescue kennels. She said the bitch had swelled up and looked like she was pregnant, but that was impossible, and it must be a phantom pregnancy. She had come in season at the kennels, so the rescue woman had decided to keep her there longer until she was finished, to make sure my sister couldn't be careless and let her get mated.

Well I took one look at her and said no! Those are real pups in there. Then I saw them moving which made me double certain. She had six little phantoms the following night. Some of them took after their mum, and others were the spitting image of a black male dog at the kennels.

She's fast asleep in her den at the moment. I daren't wake her for a photo shoot - she needs all the sleep she can get

Oh yeah. Don't disturb her. Maybe tonight will be the night. Did someone say it isn't messy? I always found puppy birth to be messy. Lots of fluid anyway, and some of it can be bloody. Hope you've got plenty of old newspapers ready. Well it might not be so bad with a small litter and a small bitch.

Here you go VC have a giggle on me. I was in todays speak birthing partner to these ladies only 21 and very naïve at the time. Just be thankful Bessie isn't this size.
