Wow, well done so far, VC! Congrats, Bessie is doing fantastic, she's actually delivering them very quickly! I told you, young and strong! I could always tell when it was over by the behaviour of the bitch, hard to describe but somehow you just know. They relax more than they did in between puppies, and settle and are very exhausted but happy. At some point you will then have to put the pups aside on a not-so-hot water bottle and take her out for a wee. She will not want to go!
I am sure you offer her water from a bowl in her den from time to time as she will rather go thirsty than leave it at first, and when the pups are all born she will also be served a hearty breakfast in bed Remember to feed her puppy food now as she will need more and more protein to produce milk. You can be very generous with food now! She'll look a skeleton to you after all the puppies are born, compared to what you were used to during those last two weeks...bonkers about beans... and now a proud Nutter!

How long do you give it before you believe its the last one? It feels like there's another one but I'm not sure as there's so much movement with the puppies.
I'm really proud of Bessie. She's delivered them all herself, cleaned them up, cut the cords and they're all feeding.
She looks so old now, 5 mouths to feed - at least

Oh and I won't bore you with coat colour genetics in dogs but no, with black pups Flyte is extremely unlikely to be the father even if his age had been stated incorrectly. If you really want to try and find out who it was keep in mind that pups in one litter may well have different fathers...
Wait a day to assess colour - black may well end up as a dark brown or even reddish... the white little markings will get smaller as they grow and depending on their size may even disappear completely. Think ink on paper - colour spreads, white areas shrink. All the diluted colours may take a while to become obvious anyway, blue, fawn etc....bonkers about beans... and now a proud Nutter!

Sorry VC, overlap of posts. Hard to give a time frame as each birth is different. As long as she's not in labour and resting there may well be several hours in between pups. If you feel there's another one my guess is that there are another two
If you did let her eat the placentas she will develop a pretty severe diarrhoea. Keep that in mind, especially at night....bonkers about beans... and now a proud Nutter!
