Bit of a shock for the poor little dab - leaving his brothers behind.

Bessie went to frantic, when I first had her. She'd cry for hours and scratch at the door, trying to get to me. After a few days, the crying etc became less and soon, she just slept right through.

Hope your little fella soon settles, Scarlet

        • I felt awful leaving him VC and for such a little thing he can howl really loud as soon as you leave him on his own he starts. He likes to sit on a lap to go to sleep too, he really is gorgeous

            • A warm hot water bottle may help as well.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

              • Poor wee sausage. Everything is new and no familiar smells. Give him a big cuddle from me.

                    • Its been a big day in Puppyland. Today, they've started to play with each other and toddle around and clamber out of their pen and fall over the top. Only about 5" - no harm done.
They're chewing each other's ears, pawing, "biting", licking..............its as if someone's put new batteries in them. They only last for about 5 minutes, then they need a 2 hour nap to recover.

                        • Well mines like a bomb VC, he's stealing the sticks from my kindling basket, nicked the tangerines from the fruit bowl and got tangles up in the leads under my Christmas tree! I got him a squeaky ball - it frightened the life out of him but he's settled now with a chewy hide instead of my slipper. I had a little blanket from the sanctuary for him to sleep with but I washed it this morning I've got a hot water bottle that I'll try tonight though (ta, Jeanied ) I remember my Dad always said a ticking clock but I've only got digitals in the house..strange how times move on.

Is he taking the things back to his bed or same spot? My little boy was four when we got him (he was like a puppy all over again) but for ages he kept taking things to his bed. It stopped for years, as soon as my first was born he started to take her things I know it is to do with scent but not quite sure what. Also just incase it should help, when we moved we went from a bungalow to a house and the first week in the house I slept on the sofa so he wasn't alone in a strange place (I know that isn't for everyone). Then lastly he had his own room but was not happy unless he had the hall way so he could know who was coming and going.

Hopefully your lil boy is settling anyway

ah the joys of having a puppy. Collies of course are live wires and will keep you on your toes. He'll be fine once he settles in
