                • Harry dog gets groomed every six weeks! This is a dog who won't walk anymore and spends his time in the garden (he's almost 15). Believe me when I say he NEEDS groomed every six weeks. Don't know how he gets so dirty!

Mighty glad Toby dog doesn't need clipping - he'd be a nightmare..! Although saying that, he does sort of enjoy me giving him a brush - when I can get him to keep still ...

                      • I know this is a seriously old thread, but I thought I'd join in with and answer to the original question anyway. A couple of years ago, we'd been asked to look after our friends' house in France while they were away at a wedding. When we turned up, it was obvious that their bitch was upduffed. It was OK, they told us, because she wasn't due until the weekend after they were coming back. Their parting words being, "unless Jake got in there earlier...".

Guess what? Jake got in there earlier. After a week away, our friends returned at lunchtime on the Saturday and the whelping started at about 7pm. They hadn't had time to do the final preparations (luckily, they had the whelping box set up and she'd been sleeping in it for a good long time anyway, so knew where to go) so it was all a bit of a panic. The boys were useless, so I and the other lady helped bring all the pups into the world. The mum wasn't able to open the sacs herself, so that was my job to do that, give them a bit of a clean and then pass them back to mum. We had one breach and one that didn't want to feed for a long, long time. But, by 1:30am, she was done, we had eight beautiful Labrador puppies, four black and four yellow, and everyone was fit and healthy.

We had never planned to have dogs, but after that, we couldn't not have one, could we? In fact, we ended up with two

                            • You don't have to ask me twice to share pics of my monsters!!

This was the first little one that came out.

A very tired mum with all eight pups

We visited again when they were six and a half weeks old to pick one out to come home. We were choosing between this little boy:

                              And this little girl:

                              • In the end we decided on the little girl, and brought her home when she was eight weeks:

But, after loads of humming and hawing, we decided to have the boy, too, so went back and collected him when he was fourteen weeks old:

                                Now they're all grown up!

                                This is Willow:
