Hubby and I both signed. It happens round here, too, and is still ongoing.

Then it chucks it down and everywhere floods...

It makes me mad, we've had our main road closed already this year due to flooding. My OH is out there clearing leaves, etc. the council asks for flood wardens then they give permission or/build more houses.
The flooding in this news clip was Shurnhold a few weeks ago, (we were stuck right in the middle of it) just one night of heavy rain

They just don't care, it's just money and then they move on to another field.

          Thanks everyone!

I don't know how the money making skanks get permission to build property that is most likely uninsurable.

What I really don't understand is why on earth Insurance Companies would even consider Insuring properties to be built on areas which flood.

If they all flatly refused then the builders just couldn't go ahead.
All it takes is for the insurers to refuse them and the whole thing comes to a stand still.
Clearly there are insurers who are prepared to take the gamble.
But that's what insurance is all about isn't it?

I really feel for you Scarlet...it must be making you feel sick with frustration x

We owned an acre of land in the middle of our village and were constantly refused planning consent for 6 houses, being on a hill flooding was not an issue. Yet they build hundreds in areas likely to flood. The land was seperate to our farm and of no agricultural use.

Similar has happened here, planning permission was asked for 3 small houses in a large garden opposite, the owners wanted to knock their existing large home down and build 3, one to live in, 2 to sell..that was refused. The county council has had a different result....after going to court the council were given the right to sell land to a developer with permission for 270 homes which has opened the gate for the big boys to come on in and join the party
