we're away in the caravan this year for the first time. Just the 2 of us and the dogs, hopefully we'll wake up to a lovely view. Have got a small beef joint and will have all the trimmings just on a small scale! Really looking forward to it, we have a mini tree and fairy lights for inside and out! Dogs have xmas coats although I drew the line at those antler things for them - Bonnie would destroy them anyway!

Next year wil be a lot different with 2 10 month old grand daughters to play with though!

That sounds like me I wouldn't let any one else mess with my turkeys, I had to pluck them myself too- just to make sure the skin wasn't broken before hanging. Though I stopped doing them a couple of years ago as my breeding "Tom" became very aggressive and he had to go . That first year without our own turkey I ordered a rib in beef instead. My boys (early teens) were disgusted when they realised that we weren't having the traditional turkey. Come Christmas Eve, late afternoon they went off out on their scooters and a rucksack...they managed to buy a huge turkey at a bargain price just before the shop shut. They were so proud when they got home

Christmas is normally a non event chez Scarey, there are only two of us and being in France we can't just pop in and visit anyone - a little matter of an 8 hour drive and a bit of water in between! A couple of years ago, we had Christmas in our camper in the garden but that was it.

        This year, however...

We have been invited to our daughter's boyfriend's Italian family in Paris for the festivities, a real treat and, as her boyfriend has informed us, we are the only girlfriend's parents who have ever been invited even to have a meal with them (no pressure then )

Only problem now, is what to do with the dogs ...anyone fancy a holiday in France over Christmas

Christmas here will be just me, Mrs H, our son (who lives with us) and our daughter and her husband (who will stay over for a few days). On the 25th we will do the presents thing and then have a big traditional roast dinner of some sort. Then I expect we'll play board games and card games and drink our presents for the rest of the day.

I'm quite looking forward to it.
