  • Hello again!

This will probably be a bit meaningless to most people on here (although I think VeggieChicken might probably/vaguely remember me. Hope so, anyway!) but I’m really happy to say ‘hello again’ to everyone seeing as I joined just under two years ago, but have largely been ’away’ (not in prison or anything dodgy like that!) for most of the time until…well… now.

Anyone who remembers me will know that I received a lot of help from members on this Forum, and successfully built a lovely vegetable garden in the months after I first joined, only to slip back completely in the second year due to various little problems and changes in circumstances ie long running health scares and allied problems (all, happily, now resolved) and a lot of housing uncertainty, (also now sorted, too), and I’ve done nothing at all this year, save for picking all the fruit from the bushes that I planted last season.

The present change of circumstances is that I’ve moved to a new house now – albeit it only being down the other end of the street! – and I’ll be starting again from scratch in the new season, In many ways I’ve actually started already in that, despite only being in the new house for two weeks,I’ve already ordered and had delivered a stack of vegetable seeds already from The Real Seeds Company, and have already selected a new greenhouse for delivery around the end of January or early February. I’d be buying it already but am completely furnishing a house from the floors up just at the moment, so you’ll appreciate the cost involved in buying all new ‘everything’ from carpets up to lightbulb shades and absolutely everything in between apart from an iPad, a wheelbarrow, and a very well worn (already!) set of faithful garden tools.
I never cancelled the magazine even though they’ve largely just been piling up on the shelf, and the yearning to ‘get back again’ has been developing in intensity all way through.

I’d love to think this is the start of something new and that I stay around this time for much longer than I did two years ago, and I can’t see any reason why I shouldn’t so ‘hello again’ (again) and here we go!

          More nutty stuff...

          Hello again all (or both)...

No pics as yet - and it'd just be a barren looking patch of grass if I took one - but I'll keep you all well informed.

Lots to talk about in the days and weeks and months to come, and here comes the first question now: Do any of you have Norfolk greenhouses, and do you think they're OK? I've seen one I treally like the look of, and that's the one I'm hoping to be getting...

          Any views or comments, anyone?

Forgot to say: Might be tonight now before I reply as I only got my broadband piped in yesterday, and I have to set it all up again tonight. Before that, though, I'm off to do a couple of hours work election planning work (Had I best not say what party it is on here?), so it might be about 9ish before I'm back...

PS: I don't mind people guessing which party it is, but I won't attempt to start a Party Political Discussion section here - especially as I note that VeggieChicken had ascended to the heights of a Mod since I last graced(?) these avenues...

            See ya later, peeps!

I have greenhouses and they are in Norfolk and they do the job but unfortunately I know nothing about norfolk greenhouses. I think like quite a few grapes I would go for what ever reasonably priced 2nd hand greenhouse happened to be about at the time.

Is it the 'Bring Back Harry Ramsdens to Guiseley' party?
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

Crivens! I've only been back half a day and I'm on a yellow card already! Red one by midnight? Surely not!

Anyway, the broadband didn't work. At least, it probably would've done, but the telephone socket was broken, so I should have checked that really before I ordered the broadband. Anyway, the engineer is coming round on Friday morning, so all should hopefully, be sorted then.

So, Norfolk greenhouses: Has anyone got one, or do you know anyone who has? I have all many years ago, but I think they've pretty much come on a lot since then, and hardly recognisable from the one I had 25 years ago. I think I'll have quite a few more questions on these, and on greenhouses in particular over the space of the next few months. Just for now, though, it's these particular type of greenhouses I'm most keen to hear about.

Heck no! Certainly not! No-one from Guiseley actually went there, actually. There were much better chip shops in Guiseley, and the place always reminded me of Manchester United in that all the locals from here followed Man City (ie other chippies) whilst people from down South (ie anywhere south of Sheffield), and others, came here in their thousands just to try to buy into the Ramsdens legend.
