Of course, the volunteers wolfed it down regardless.
Clearing up the mess that getting a new kitchen makes. You could write your name in the dust!
Looks like it might be a nice day, so have a good one
Shame about the look of your cake Sally it might be an idea to buy an oven thermometer I got one when we swapped cookers just to check.

    • Morning all, lovely and sunny here this morning! Just back for a great weekend in beautiful York! We go there quite often and would love to live there one day but we did notice a heck of a lot of stag and hen parties on Friday and Saturday nights. The doorman at our hotel told us this was a relatively new thing to happen in York as the railways are encouraging this. Lesson learned, when going back we will be going mid week instead of over the weekend! Did all the usual touristy (if that's a word) things, a wee walk a wee refreshment, a wee walk, a wee refreshment...you get the idea! Well hope your weekend was just as nice, off to catch up on threads/posts I have missed.

      • Morning all! It's a lovely day here, and Domino cat is sunning himself on the bench.

Glad you had a nice time in York, Jay - did you go to the Railway Museum? Well worth a visit.

On the subject of hen/stag nights, I went to stop with my big sis in Cardiff a few years ago, and our (magnificent) hotel room was just a couple of floors up and had big picture windows overlooking one of the main streets. We had a great view - it was a bit of an education, I must say!

Good idea that Bren has about the oven thermometer. It takes ages to get used to a new oven, especially for cakes and biscuits.

          • Yes I've been to the Railway Museum before Hazel and even if you are not interested in this kind of thing it is well worth a visit!
After having a drink in the Blue Boar pub where Dick Turpins body was put on show after he was hung (penny a look), we hunted out his supposed grave. Is there anyone from York here who can tell me why the city don't publicise this more? I know he was a real baddie but there is a romanticised view of him with people and I would have thought that would have been high on the citys list of what to see.

            • Evening all! Don't know about Dick Turpin, Jay - bit grizzly charging a penny a look to see his body!

I've just had a pause from the Task List - 'tis not all done yet! and put some bread to make in the machine, have a coffee and a egg custard. Need to put another hour in here, then maybe do some baking.

              • Went to buy 'puppy food' so exciting, somehow ended up in GC! Just bought one little dried up bay tree, which is now rehydrating in bucket of water.

Thinking of putting it in a pot this year? Good idea? Or better off in ground?

My bay tree is in a pot - although I haven't much choice her in the courtyard garden if I want it near at hand to nick leaves of for cooking with. I'll post a pic tomorrow if you remind me.

                      • Morning Scarlet According to the BBC, the invasion is expected in the Spring/Summer. Don't know about you, but I've been in the trenches since last Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter

Mines in a pot so I can move it into the GH if we get a bad winter after the previous one was flattened with the snow.
