Sorry Hazel, you and my other half would get on well. I drive him nuts with all the garbage I keep! We are total opposites...I am the most disorganised, untidy person on the planet and a collector of ALL things, useful or not...he is the neat freak who wants to chuck everything out.

Just take stuff down there Jay. Good idea to ask first if there's anything they will not accept though. They will be grateful for your cast offs

Does anyone know if charity shops take things from you in the shop or do you have to wait for the bags through the door?Nannys make memories

By this time next month the anvil & stand will be in a new home in Devon, plus the largest lathe will be residing with a nearby neighbour, plus the "spare" compressor will have taken up residence on the other side of town, anyone in the market for a 10 ton hydraulic tube bender ?He who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

I do clear stuff out for charity shops, then it clutters up the garage until I pluck up the courage to go to the charity shop I've had a few unfortunate experiences when handing things in that put me off going back to that particular shop.
"Not more books" - sniff!
"Put your stuff in the corner and we'll see to it later" (ie chuck it over there where we can ignore it)
I just want a charity shop assistant who will look grateful, say Thank you and a shop I can park outside.
I'm sure you're lovely, Nannysally, but some of the "helpers" put me off their shops for life.

I've never read such a lot of cobblers in my whole life! By all means allow yourself a 'keepsakes' drawer/cupboard/chest for sentimental items (letters, things from childhood/your children, even school reports etc), but for what you might call 'everyday' utensils/shoes/books/household items it really is easy. If you can't remember the last time you used/wore something, pass it on to someone who will!
