  • Hello everyone, just been talking to our daughter. She went to casualty last night after being bitten by a mouse she was rescuing from her cat.
Upshot was, she had to have a tetanus booster and a course of 2000mg horse pill sized antibiotics,
You can imagine how tiny the bite was, but it did break the skin lol

    • Awful wet day here in Kent, so didn't get to allotment to sort out rusty garlic. Charlie got a bit wet n muddy, so needy a mini bath in sink, don't who got the wettest, me or him! He wasn't too keen on the hairdryer tho, so he decided to run round like a mad thing to dry off, he's now snoring!

      • Afternoon I've spent the day in the garden potting on a planting out wearing a tee-shirt and shorts
just come in doors for a mug of tea and a scone. Not sure whats happened to the scones look more like bread crusts but still tasted nice spread with butter an rhubarb and orange jam.

        • Early evening all, what a change in the weather here, after 3 weeks of warm temps it is really chilly in the wind. Did some direct sowing but decided against watering as frosts are forecast.

Going to put my feet up as watching the London Marathon exhausted me

          • Evening, well we have had every season in the one day today! Lovely and sunny, then rain then sun, then hail then sun and it's very very windy and cold! We have a fabulous white cherry tree in the garden which had beautiful blossom until this morning...the petals are now all over the lawn.

              • Good Morning I thought it was a hot one this morning with the sun blazing and the blue sky and then realised there was ice on the car windscreen! Working today, but I'm not sure for how long - my right eye is very runny and a bit blurred still. Have a good day All

                • After all the rain yesterday, the ground should be workable on the plot, so Need to get myself there, and put up a construction for my mange tout, and get them planted out, they are about 4/6 inches now. Also my 'broccoli or cabbage ' , need planting out also, and need to sort that garlic, if time permits? There never is enough time is there!

                  Happy gardening folks!

                      • Morning all, what beautiful sunshine!

It was a chilly night last night. How chilly I'm not quite sure because I plugged an ancient fan heater in to keep any frost out of the greenhouse. Its thermostat must be rubbish though because the temperature in there stayed above 5C and it was definitely colder outside than that. Still, the electricity bill can handle a couple more nights if it's needed again.

                            • Been volunteering today, and Monday is cake day. Made Wet Nelly aka bread pudding ish. Went down a storm. Volunteers also took a piece for their hubbies as well. Also made another lot of greetings cards for them to sell.

                              • Well, after a successful visit to the vet today (both dogs well enough now for the park and a big run) we exercised our socks off in the big park. Rosie proceeded to give up her ball to a police dog who was never going to give it back before he chewed it into two halves - the result was his handler gave me 6 other balls (I am sure at least one that Rosie has lost in the park before ) to compensate - these dogs go through them at a rate of knots.
Both of my girls are on antibiotics though - bless them, Rosie for a wound on her chest from something in the garden and Petal for a very upset digestive system poor girl. These two are very expensive - it makes one appreciate the NHS!
